This week, the Spoop Bois Aaron and Derek are joined by actress, producer, and VFX/makeup expert Elizabeth Piper S. (2021's "The Dark Offerings") to tackle 1992's Gothic horror film "Bram Stoker's Dracula" directed and produced by Francis Ford Coppola. They discuss Coppola's love for the original story influencing his adaptation, the addition of tragedy and love enhancing the plot, and the maximalist nature of the entire movie. They also talk about the bombastic performances, sex factor, and other aspects of the movie. Derek has crossed oceans of time to find Aaron. Elizabeth condemns you to living death.

To wrap up "Dead Boy Summer," Aaron and Derek discuss 2016's British post-apocalyptic horror film "The Girl with All the Gifts" directed by Colm McCarthy and written by Mike Carey. They discuss the comparisons with 2013's video game "The Last of Us," the strangely hopeful state of the conclusion, Mike Carey's novel, and the "zombie-ant" fungus itself. They also talk about the differing attitudes towards the children various characters have, the unique characteristics of the fungal infected zombies, and many other aspects of the film. Derek wants a cat. Aaron knows it's just not yours any more.

For the final George Romero flick during "Dead Boy Summer," friend of the show James returns to discuss 1985's post-apocalyptic zombie movie "Day of the Dead" with Aaron and Derek. They talk about the evolution of Tom Savini's make up work from Night to Day, the differing viewpoints on the post-apocalypse among the characters, the inclusion of military minded characters, and the conversational pacing. They also discuss the excellent body acting of Sherman Howard to bring Bub the Zombie to life, the underwhelming movies that spun out of Day, among many other aspects of the movie. James wants to teach the dead tricks. Derek's ignorance is exceeded only by his charm. Aaron hopes you choke on 'em!

For the second companion movie during "Dead Boy Summer," Derek and Aaron tackle 1979's Italian zombie flick "Zombie" (also known as "Zombi 2") directed by Lucio Fulci. They discuss the wild copyright laws of the time in Italy that allowed for an unofficial "sequel" to George A. Romero's "Dawn of the Dead," and the decision making behind Fulci and the producer that lead to its creation. They also talk about the putrefied zombie make-up direction, the underlying themes of the western world exploiting native lands, how the "zombie vs shark" scene came to be, among many other aspects of the film. Romero. They discuss how Romero got access to the mall, the low budget nature of the production, and Dario Argento's cut. They also tackle whether or not the movie is inconsistent from a serious horror and comedy standpoint, what makes the setting so endearing, the political and social commentary, among many other aspects of the movie. They talk about how the copyright fiasco of "Night of the Living Dead" led to the creation of this movie, how Dan O'Bannon became attached, and the trope additions it introduces for the modern zombie. They also get into the clever humor mixing punk culture with gore horror, the franchise history, and many other topics about the film. Derek thinks this is a way of life! To kick off the zombie summer series, Aaron and Derek welcome back friend of the show Kelly Sherman to discuss 1968's horror masterpiece "Night of the Living Dead" directed by George A. Romero and written by John Russo and Romero. They talk about the history of the zombie and how this movie transformed the concept into the modern cinematic trope. They also tackle the horror themes in zombie stories, Duane Jones casting and amazing performance, the copyright and distribution issues, the nature of the independent production, and many other topics about the film. Kelly is the boss up here! Derek and Aaron, incredible as they may seem, are not the results of mass hysteria.

They discuss the found footage experience in horror movies, the realistic portrayal of Alzheimer's disease juxtaposed with possession, and the amazing performances by Jill Larson and Anne Ramsay. They also discuss the influences that went into creation of the film and Mr. Babadook, how they shot an intense flick with respect to Noah Wiseman's age, and many other aspects of the movie. Derek thinks you are nothing...YOU'RE NOTHING! Aaron can't get rid of the Babadook.
