Aaron and Derek conclude 2023's "Season of Spoop" on urban legend themed films by discussing 1999's supernatural found footage horror movie "The Blair Witch Project" with guest and friend of the show Lauren Willson! They talk about the late-90s cultural phenomena surrounding the film's release, the wild mass marketing campaign, and its influence on modern found footage horror. They also get into whether or not the quality of the actual filmmaking holds up, the horrors of being lost in the woods, the insane franchise swings, and many other aspects of the movie. Aaron and Derek found a pile of rocks outside their tent. Lauren threw the map in the river. They also want to wish everyone a Happy Halloween!

Cunningham and written by Victor Miller. They discuss how this further propelled the trope heavy modern slasher, how it compares to other slasher franchises and its own sequels, and what made this an independent release. They also get into Betsy Palmer's involvement, the severe critical derision it received, what makes this such an easy to watch horror flick, and many other aspects about the movie and franchise. Derek is going up to Camp Blood. Aaron is doomed!

They start by discussing 1992's "Candyman" written and directed by Bernard Rose with guest and friend of the show Kelly Sherman. They talk about Tony Todd's iconic role in comparison with other horror greats, the sociopolitical issues and how they relate to modern times, and whether or not there are elements that have aged poorly. They also get into the original Clive Barker story, examples of urban legends, and many other topics and aspects of the film. Kelly is the writing on the wall, the whisper in the classroom. Aaron and Derek are just a rumor, it is a blessed condition.

The Spoop Bois continue their journey through Hill House, and the great Shelby Scott (creator and host of "Scare You To Sleep" podcast) joins them to tackle 1999's "The Haunting" directed by Jan de Bont. They talk about Steven Spielberg and Stephen King's original involvement, the deviation from both the original novel and 1963 film version, and the outrageously extravagant set design. They also get into the movie's focus on the supernatural, the wild cast and whether or not they fit the characters, the late 90s monster effects, among many other aspects of the film. Aaron and Derek could live together, but they hate each other. Shelby simply says "wow."

This episode, Aaron and Derek cover 1963's classic horror film "The Haunting" directed by Robert Wise and adapted by Nelson Gidding from Shirley Jackson's 1959 novel "The Haunting of Hill House." They talk about the set dressing of the house, the movie similarities and deviations from the novel, and how Gidding and Wise's take on the story influenced the adaptation. They also discuss Nell and Theo's characterizations, the horror shown through interpersonal relationships in a secluded space, what ultimately makes this a great horror gateway movie, and many other aspects of the film. Aaron is a big boy with his cup of stars. Derek just wants to hold a ghost's hand.

They also get into their own experiences, compare the movie to nu metal, delve into its effect on pop culture, and discuss many other aspects of the film and franchise. Lauren wants to play a game!
